Ambassador Nguyen Sy Xung had a meeting with Turkish Deputy Prime Minister |

The Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Nguyen Sy Xung was received by Mr. Hayati Yazici, the Turkish Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister and Co-Chairman of Turkish-Vietnamese Joint Economic Committee on 28th February 2008. At the meeting, Ambassador Xung conveyed greetings from Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade and Co-Chairman of the Vietnamese-Turkish Joint Economic Committee Mr. Nguyen Huy Hoang to H.E. Mr. Yazici and briefed him on remarkable socio-economic achievements gained by Vietnam in the process of national renewal and construction, especially those in international integration and economic development during the last five years. Ambassador Xung also expressed grateful to Turkey as one of the countries that extended support to Vietnam being elected as a WTO member as well as a non-permanent member of the UNO Security Council for the period of 2008-2009 and emphasized that two countries would celebrate the 30th anniversary of establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations in 2008 and this year also is expected to witness the 4th meeting of Joint Economic Committee in Turkey. On his part, Deputy Prime Minister Hayati Yazici recalled the development process of bilateral relations over past three decades, expressing his high evaluation of the achievements gained by the Vietnamese people in the renewal process. Regarding the bilateral economic relations, Mr. Yazici commentted that the total two-way trade revenue reaching more than 300 US millions in 2007 has not reflected the potential of the two countries and pointed out that in the years to come, the two sides should work together to further strengthen bilateral economic cooperation through exploiting the favourable conditions offerred by the free economic zones which play important role in export-import economies like Turkey and Vietnam. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that Turkey attaches great importance to the enhencement of friendly ties with Vietnam by assigning a Deputy Prime Minister to co-chair the bilateral Joint Economic Committee. Mr. Yazici also revealed that the concerned agencies of Turkey are making arrangements so that the upcoming meeting of the Joint Economic Committee will be organized as planned. Mr. Yazici, at the meeting, conveyed the invitation through Ambassador Xung to his Vietnamese counterpart - Minister Vu Huy Hoang. |
